What's Country Music?
Country music has roots in folk music, gospel music and blues music of the early 1920s. Up until 1940 country music was referred to as "hillbilly music", at which time it also became widly known as "country and western". Nowadays the term country music is the one commonly used.
Elvis was initially a country music singer and he then went on to define rock and roll throughout his career. So if the King liked it, the music has to be good!
Some good examples of country music (in my opinion) are - Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams and Buddy Holly.
